The end of World War II. The Bulgarian army is fighting the German one. Private Peycho Peychev known as Peychina is also at the frontier - a sensitive and timid person forced to witness the horrors of the war. His commanding officer keeps saying that at the end of a war the world is swept by a 'surge of tenderness'. After a serious injury, Peychina goes back to his birth place. The new ruling powers in the village try to win him over to their side but what he is really good at is holding the chisel, not the gun. He carves an image of Elena, a woman that he falls in love with. Yet, the surge of tenderness in the world seems to be canceled. Peychina comes to be responsible for the death of an anarchist and helps capture his commanding officer, who fights against the new rule. When the mayor hands him a gun again, he refuses to take it.

About 90% of them will use drugs during their travels and every year about two thousand of them will require professional help to recover from this drug use. Ayşe is the daughter of a father who sided with the sultan against the National Struggle. She is about to marry a captain against her will. Osman, on the other hand, is one of the soldiers fighting for the liberation of the country. One day, he and his men raid Ayşe's house and take some money. After this incident, Ayşe's father, overcome with fear, wants to return to Istanbul. Ayşe, however, insists that they must join the National Struggle. This leads to an argument between Ayşe and her fiancé, the captain. During the argument, the captain accidentally kills Ayşe's father. After this incident, Ayşe decides to join the National Forces.

The opening scene of our story shows a Union powder wagon making its way down the road convoyed by a company of mounted Union soldiers. The route of this wagon is reported to Confederate headquarters by one of its spies. Nan, a girl frequently employed by the department of the Confederate army, is called to headquarters and instructed to secure the destruction of the enemy's ammunition train just reported. Nan is fitted out with a Union uniform, mounted on a fast horse and sent on her journey, previously provided with a forged order supposedly signed by a Union general which authorizes her to pass through the lines.
The film depicts Aliye’s patriotism. The entire country is under occupation. Aliye, a newly appointed teacher in Anatolia, settles in the house of Ömer Efendi, a leading figure in the town.
